Battlefield 3 Sells 5 Million Copies in First Week
Fastest-selling game in EA history.
Electronic Arts announced today that Battlefield 3 sold five million copies during its first week in stores. The figure is for worldwide sales across all platforms, and makes Battlefield 3 the fastest-selling game in EA history. EA also revealed that the game has 2.5 million "likes" on Facebook, 200,000 followers on Twitter, and that fans have "executed 73 million savior kills, 48 million revives and destroyed 67 million vehicles."
To put the sales figures in perspective, EA's previous war game, last year's Medal of Honor, sold five million copies in its first four months on sale. Meanwhile, Battlefield's main competitor, the Call of Duty franchise, sold 5.6 million in one day when Black Ops released last year.
